It is with great sadness that we received the news of Bruno Rixen’s passing today.
Bruno Rixen invented cable based waterskiing in the 1960’s. With his patented invention he created a new sport: waterskiing without a boat. Since then, Bruno Rixen developed and built waterski and wakeboard cableways for more than 55 years. With more than 300 full-size Rixen Cableways and over 160 two-pylon systems, Bruno Rixen made an important contribution to popularise wakeboarding and waterskiing worldwide.
Bruno Rixen’s desire was always to serve the community through his vision to make waterskiing and wakeboarding accessible to all people. His work ethic was characterised by enthusiasm, engineering skills and a pioneering spirit, therefore standing out for these values. Bruno not only shaped this industry, he created it!
In 2007, Bruno Rixen was awarded the Order of Merit by the IWWF, in recognition of his contribution to our sport.
The IWWF is grateful to Bruno Rixen for being the innovator who created the waterski & wakeboard cableway, and thanks him for what he has done for our sport.

今天我们收到布鲁诺·瑞克森老先生离世的消息，感到非常悲伤。
布鲁诺·瑞克森在20世纪60年代发明了索道牵引设备。凭借他的专利发明，他创造了一项新的运动：索道滑水（非船拖）。从那时起，布鲁诺·瑞克森开发和建造了传统滑水和尾波滑水索道牵引设备超过55年。拥有300多个全尺寸Rixen索道和160多条直道索道，布鲁诺·瑞克森为世界范围内普及尾水滑水和传统滑水运动做出了重要贡献。
布鲁诺·瑞克森的愿望始终是通过让滑水运动变得更容易来服务于社会。他的职业精神里有对事业不变的热情、制造技术的精益求精和不断地开拓创新，也因此脱颖而出。布鲁诺不仅塑造了这个行业，还创造了这个行业。
2007年，布鲁诺·瑞克森被国际滑联授予功勋勋章，以表彰他对滑水运动做出的贡献。
国际滑水联合会感谢布鲁诺·瑞克森，感谢他创造了索道牵引设备，并感谢他为滑水运动所做的一切。
